Aainaa wohi rahta hai

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

After the mega success of Sholay, another film maker made another movie with its title beginning with “Sh..” and hyped it so much so that everyone thought that this movie was going to be the next Sholay. In addition to top Indian stars, it also boasted some international stars. But when the dust settled down, the movie had crashed with no trace of it remaining anywhere.

The only thing surviving from this movie was a song “hum bewafa” which I have already posted. And now that I think about it, there was another song in this movie that was popular viz “Aaina wohi rahta hai chehre badal jaate hain”.

Like for the Kishore Kumar song mentioned earlier, this Lata song too was composed well, but the story line was so flimy that the songs had become irrelevant. These “Shalimar” songs still got popular, not because of the movie, but despite the movie.

Here is this nice song sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

Song- Aainaa wohi rahta hai chehre badal jaate hain (Shaalimaar 1978) Singer- Lata, Lyrics- Anand Bakshi, MD- R D Burman

Lyrics

aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaate hain
aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaate hain
aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaate hain
aankhon mein rukte nahin jo
aansoo nikal jaate hain
aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaate hain

pahli mulaaqat ki
tauba wo pahli nazar
ho pahli mulaaqat ki
tauba wo pahli nazar
kya ho gaya kab hua
hoti nahin kuch khabar
kitna bhi dil ko sambhaloon
armaan machal jaate hain
aaina
ki aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaate hain
aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaate hain

gulshan mein phoolon ke saath
khilten hain dil me gulaab
ho gulshan mein phoolon ke saath
khilten hain dil me gulaab
hota hai jab pyaar to
lagta hai paani sharaab
do ghoont peete hi lekin
ye honth jal jaate hain
aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaa…

bekhabar bekadar pyar sach hai agar
dekhna ek din royega mere bin
raah me chhod kar mera dil todkar
mujhko tadpaya kyon too bhi tadapegaa youn
yaad rakh bewafaa, ye meri badduwa
toone jiske liye, mujh ko dhokhe diye
wo teri dilrubaa, legi badlaa meraa
mai ye gham humnasheen, bhool sakti nahin
wo iraade tere, jhoothhe waade tere
wo iraade tere, jhoothhe waade tere
jab yaad aate hai dil par, bas teer chal jaate hai
aaina wohi rahta hai
chehre badal jaate hain

Ye sama sama hai ye pyaar ka

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

One associates sensuous and seductive songs with Asha Bhonsle rather than Lata. So it comes as a surprise to note that even Lata has sung such songs and has sung them just as well as Asha.

Take this song from “Jab jab phool khile” for instance. This song is picturised on Nanda, who played the role of a “westernised” girl, which meant singing a “bold” song. The song is certainly different from the Sati Savitri kind of songs that the heroines of those days got to sing. This kind of songs were more the preserve of Helen on screen and Asha on playback. That way this song is different.

This song further confirms my hypothesis that Lata was at her creative best in 1960s.

Song-Ye sama sama hai ye pyaar ka (Jab jab phool khile)(1965) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi,MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

ye samaa
samaa hai ye pyaar kaa
kisi ke intazaar kaa
dil naa churaale kahin meraa
mausam bahaar kaa
ye samaa
samaa hai ye pyaar kaa
kisi ke intazaar kaa
dil naa churaale kahin meraa
mausam bahaar kaa

basne lage aankhon mein
kuchh aise sapne
basne lage aankhon mein
kuchh aise sapne
koi bulaaye jaise
nainon se apne
nainon se apne
ye samaa
samaa hai deedaar kaa
kisi ke intazaar kaa
dil naa churaale kahin meraa
mausam bahaar kaa

milke khayaalon mein hi
apne balam se
milke khayaalon mein hi
apne balam se
neend ganwaan li apni
main ne qasam se
main ne qasam se
ye samaa
samaa hai khumaar ka
kisi ke intazaar ka
dil naa churaale kahin meraa
mausam bahaar kaa

main to hoon sapno ke raja ki raani
main to hoon sapno ke raja ki raani
sach ho na jaaye ye jhoothi kahani
jhoothi kahani
ye samaa
samaa hai ikraar kaa
kisi ke intazaar kaa
dil naa churaale kahin meraa
mausam bahaar kaa
ye samaa
samaa hai ye pyaar kaa
hmmm hmmm

Socha tha pyaar hum na karenge

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

Listening to this Mukesh song all these years without any additional information, I thought that this song had all the attributes of a Raj kapoor song. It was sung by Mukesh, lyrics looked Shailendra like and music appeared Shankar Jaikishan like, and I was sure that the song was picturised on Raj Kapoor.

But when I finally managed to watch the video of this song, I realised that I was a bit off target. Apart from this being a Mukesh number, I was mistaken on other counts. It was written by Rajinder Krishan and music direction was by Kalyanji Anandji. This song was not picturised on Raj Kapoor, but on his younger brother, viz Shammi Kapoor. And it was not a standard sad song, rather a comedy song, despite the words in the lyrics. Or as some sophisticated critics would say, this was a song where the hero hides his sadness by laughing his sadness away. In this song, the hero is first seen singing away in the rear of a truck, and the truck driver shooes him away. Then he hitches a ride in the rear of a rickshaw, only to be pushed away by the man riding the rickshaw with his wife. Then the hero does roller skating on the road with a couple of other people, and manages to stop only by dashing against an electric pole.

In brief, this song is picturised in a light hearted manner, and so this song must be regarded as a light hearted song. But the resemblance of this song to a Raj kapoor movie song is just too uncanny, I must say.

Song- Socha tha pyar hum na karenge (Bluffmaster) (1963) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge
soorat pe yaar ham naa marenge
phir bhi kisi pe dil aa gayaa
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge
soorat pe yaar ham naa marenge
phir bhi kisi pe dil aa gayaa
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge

bahut Khaaq duniyaa ki chhaani thi hamne
bahut Khaaq duniyaa ki chhaani thi hamne
ab tak kisi ki na maani thi hamne
ab tak kisi ki na maani thi hamne
dhokhe mein dil kaise aa gayaa
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge
soorat pe yaar ham naa marenge
phir bhi kisi pe dil aa gayaa
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge

agar dil na dete bada naam karte
agar dil na dete bada naam karte
magar pyar se kya bada kaam karte
magar pyar se kya bada kaam karte
dil ko yahi kaam bhaa gaya
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge
soorat pe yaar ham naa marenge
phir bhi kisi pe dil aa gayaa
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge
soorat pe yaar ham naa marenge
phir bhi kisi pe dil aa gayaa
sochaa thaa pyaar ham naa karenge

Pyar hua hai jabse

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

What do I say about this song ? It was a big favourite of mine as well as that of others. But those days one could only listen what was played on radio and loudspeakers. So as a song stopped playing on these media, one tended to forget the song.

I have not listened to this song for nearly 40 years , honest ! It was only when I got to listen to this song again yesterday that I was once again reminded of the fact that this song was so hugely popular in those days.

But 1968-69 had a large number of wonderful songs and as a result so many nice songs jostled for space and many of them were elbowed out. This song was certainly one such song which deserved better fate than just being forgotten. But this tended to happen in those days.

If one researches the songs of 1968-69, I am sure we will come up with many such forgotten gems like this one. And I rediscovered this song thanks to the farmaish of Raja. Thanks, Raja.

Song-Pyar hua hai jabse (Abhilasha) ( 1969) Singers-Lata, Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Majrooh, MD-R D Burman

Lyrics

he he he he he he
la la la la la la la la la la
he he he he he he he
pyaar huaa hai jab se mujh ko nahin chain aataa
chhup ke nazar se bhii tuu dil se nahin jaataa
arre pyaar huaa hai jab se mujh ko nahin chain aataa
chhup ke nazar se bhii tuu dil se nahin jaataa

phir hai sajnaa ojhal kyun meri nigaahon se

phir hai sajnaa ojhal kyon meri nigaahon se
main hoon tere dil mein phir bhi meri jaan
tu ne hi mujhko nahin dekhaa main karoon kyaa?

chhup ke nazar se bhi tu dil se nahin jaataa
arre pyaar huaa hai jab se mujh ko nahin chain aataa
chhup ke nazar se bhi tu dil se nahin jaataa

rakhnaa dil ko le kar in haathon men
dil hai paagaal aanaa na tu is ki baaton mein
rakhnaa dil ko le kar in haathon mein
dil hai paagaal aanaa na tuu is ki baaton mein
lekin is dil pe, arre, qaabuu kis ko

arre pyaar huaa hai jab se mujh ko nahin chain aataa
chhup ke nazar se bhi tu dil se nahin jaataa
arre pyaar huaa hai jab se mujh ko nahin chain aataa
chhup ke nazar se bhi tu dil se nahin jaataa

jutaa tere gesu bikhraane men
miltaa hai kyaa ai zaalim mujhe sataane mein
jutaa tere gesu bikhraane mein
miltaa hai kyaa ai zaalim mujhe sataane mein
tujhko uljhaa ke mujhko meri jaan
achchhi lagti hai teri soorat main karoon kyaa?
are pyaar huaa hai jab se mujh ko nahin chain aataa
chhup ke nazar se bhi tu dil se nahin jaataa
are pyaar huaa hai jab se mujh ko nahin chain aataa
chhup ke nazar se bhi tu dil se nahin jaataa

Aaj kal mein dhal gaya

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

This song is a very well known song and a song that has the ability to move its listeners. Of course I am talking about the audio. I had not seen the picturisation till now. Now that I have seen the picturuisation, it turns out that the picturisation is quite moving too.

Having said that, I notice that the song was sung by a grown up singer, but it is picturised on a minor girl. Those days, female singers used to sing for kids, instead of kids giving playback singing for kids.Listening to such a well sung song with such sophisticated lyrics and then finding that this song is picturised on a kid left me with mixed feelings. I do not think kids can be expected to sing such sophisticated songs. May be it is the people involved in picturisation of the song who should have taken more care.

Then I realised that this song has another version, viz the duet sung by Rafi and Lata, and this song is picturised properly viz on grown ups. This song is really outstanding, singing wise as well as picturisation wise.

This duet is the one that Raja had in mind when he gave his farmaish for this song. So here is this song, in both versions.

Duet version

Lata solo version

Song- Aaj kal mein dhal gaya (Beti Bete 1964) Singer-Rafi,Lata, Lyrics- Shailendra, MD- Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

aaj kal mein dhal gayaa, din huaa tamaam
tu bhi so jaa, so gayi, rang bhari shaam
aaj kal mein dhal gayaa, din huaa tamaam
tu bhi so jaa, so gayi, rang bhari shaam
aaj kal mein dhal gayaa

so gayaa chaman chaman, so gayi kali-kali
so gaye hain sab nagar, so gayi gali-gali
so gayaa chaman chaman, so gayi kali-kali
so gaye hain sab nagar, so gayi gali-gali
neend kah rahi hai chal, merii baanhe thaam,
tu bhi so jaa, so gayi, rang bhari shaam
aaj kal mein dhal gayaa

hai bujhaa-bujhaa sa dil, bojh saans-saans par
jee rahe hain phir bhi ham, sirf kal ki aas par
hai bujhaa-bujhaa sa dil, bojh saans-saans par
jee rahe hain phir bhi ham, sirf kal ki aas par
kah rahi hai chaandni, leke teraa naam,
tu bhi so jaa, so gayi, rang bhari shaam
aaj kal mein dhal gayaa

kaun aayegaa idhar, kiski raah dekhen ham
jinki aahten suni, jaane kiske the kadam
kaun aayegaa idhar, kiski raah dekhen ham
jinki aahten suni, jaane kiske the kadam

apnaa koi bhi nahin, apne to hain Raam,
tu bhi so jaa, so gayi, rang bhari shaam
aaj kal mein dhal gayaa
aaj kal mein dhal gayaa, din huaa tamaam

Raat ke hamsafar thak ke ghar ko chale

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

It is an incredibly romantic and sensuous song. And all this effect is created thanks to the voices of Asha Bhonsle and Rafi. And the lyrics by Shailendra are incredibly imaginative.Shankar Jaikishan’s music is awesome of course.

Shammi Kapoor indeed had audiences eating out of his hands those days, and here he is seen with Sharmila Tagore. This song could almost serve as an anthem for a couple feeling especially romantic. And the backdrop showing landmarks of Paris can only enhance those feelings.

Song-Raat ke humsafar, thak ke ghar ko chale ( An evening in paris ) (1967) Singers-Asha Bhonsle, Rafi, Lyrics- Shailendra, MD- Shankar Jaikishan

Lyrics

raat ke hamasafar, thak ke ghar ko chale
jhoomti aa rahi hai subah pyaar ki
dekh kar saamne, roop ki roshni
phir luti jaa rahi hai subah pyaar ki

sonewalon ko hanskar jagaana bhi hai
raat ke jaagton ko sulaana bhi hai
deti hai jaagne ki sadaa saath hi
deti hai jaagne ki sadaa saath hi
loriyan ga rahi hai subah pyaar ki
raat ke hamsafar, thak ke ghar ko chale
jhoomti aa rahi hai subah pyaar ki
dekh kar saamne, roop ki roshni
phir luti jaa rahi hai subah pyaar ki

raat ne pyaar ke jaam bhar kar diye
aankhon aankhon se jo main ne tumne piye
hosh to ab talaq jaa ke laute nahin
hosh to ab talaq jaa ke laute nahin
aur kya laa rahi hai subah pyaar ki
raat ke hamsafar, thak ke ghar ko chale
jhoomti aa rahi hai subah pyaar ki
dekh kar saamne, roop ki roshni
phir luti jaa rahi hai subah pyaar ki

kya kya waade huye kisne khaayi kasam
ik nayi raah pe hamne rakhe qadam
chup saka pyaar kab ham chupayen to kyaa
chup saka pyaar kab ham chupayen to kyaa
sab samajh paa rahi hai subah pyaar ki
raat ke hamasafar, thak ke ghar ko chale
jhoomti hahaha pyaar ki
hmm pyaar ki
hmm pyaar ki

Mehndi laga ke rakhna doli saja ke rakhna

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

The success of “Hum Aapke Hain Koun” or HAHK in short, led many producers to come up with “me too” movies. One such movie was “Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge”.

The title of this song is taken from that iconic song from “Chor Machaaye Shor” that went “le jaayenge le jaayenge dilwaale dulhaniya le jaayenge”. The movie “dilwaale Dulhaniya le Jaayenge” or DDLJ for short, too came up with a song just as iconic as “le jayenge” song ( already posted in this blog).

Frankly, I did not enjoy this song the way many others have. The reason being, I thought that the storyline of the movie was far too unconvincing. Once the brother and father of the girl forbid SRK from being seen anywhere near Kajol, he still continues to defy their diktats and lives to tell the tale ( and to get the girl). This is not how it happens in reality. In reality, SRK would be hacked into pieces if he continued to mess up with a girl against the wishes oof her male relatives.

Well I forgot that most spectators do not bother too much about logic in Bollywood movies unlike me. Had everyone been a logical thinker than me then producers of this movie, as well as earlier producers like Manmohan Desai, Manoj Kumar etc. would have been big failures in Bollywood. But they all succeeded big time, which shows that Bollywood movie makers know the pulse of their target audience well. HAHK story line was logical and it was liked by all, including me. DDLJ was liked by all, excluding me. It shows that I was the only one who looked for logic in Bollywood movies. ;)

If this song is looked in isolation rather than as a part of the storyline, then indeed this is a wonderful song. May be I should learn to realise that songs in Bollywood movies should be treated as different and independent entities from the storyline to enjoy them fully.

The music is by Jatin Lalit, and the music is racy and ear catching, almost Laxmikant Pyarelal like. The lyricist Anand Bakshi ( was he still around) has written the wonderful song. It has been sung by Lata and Udit Narayan. Lata’s voice begins to show her age, though she gamely hangs on. Udit Narayan, as one of the better singers of the new generation, comes up with a competent performance.

Here is this song for full enjoyment of all.;)

Song: Mehndi laga ke rakhna ( Dilwaale dulhaniya le jaayenge) ( 1995) Singers-Lata, Udit Narayan, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Jatin Lalit

Lyrics

Ye Kudiyaan Nashe Di Pudiyaan
Ye Munde Gali De Gunde
Ye Kudiyaan Nashe Di Pudiyaan
Ye Munde Gali De Gunde
Nashe Di Pudiyaan
Gali De Gunde

O O Mehndi Laga ke Rakhna
Doli Saja Ke Rakhna
Mehndi Laga ke Rakhna
Doli Saja Ke Rakhna
Lene Tujhe O Gori
Aayenge Tere Sajna
Mehndi Laga Rakhna

Ye Dil Ki Baat Apne
Dil Mein Dabake Rakhna
Sehra Sajake Rakhna
Chehra Chhupake Rakhna
Mehndi Laga Rakhna
Doli Saja Ke Rakhna

Ud Udke Teri Zulfein Karti Hain Kya Ishaare
Dil Thaamke Khade Hain Aashik Sabhi Kanware
Chhup Jaayein Saari Kudiyaan Ghar Mein Sharamke Maare
Gaanv Mein Aa Gaye Hain Paagal Shehar Ke Saare
Nazrein Jhukake Rakhna
Daaman Bachake Rakhna

Aayenge Tere Sajna
Mehndi Laga ke Rakhna
Doli Saja Ke Rakhna
Sehra Sajake Rakhna
Chehra Chhupake Rakhna

Main Ek Jawaan Ladka Tu Ik Haseen Ladki
Ye Dil Machal Gaya To Mera Kusoor Kya Hai
Rakhna Tha Dil Pe Kaabu Ye Husn To Hai Jaadu
Jaadu Hi Chal Gaya To Mera Kusoor Kya Hai
Rasta Hamara Takna
Darwaaza Khulla Rakhna
Rasta Hamara Takna

Saagar kinaare dil ye pukaare

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

Dimple Kapadia made her debut in 1973 with “Bobby”. The success of this movie should have seen her landing many assignments and launch her career. Instead, she got married to Rajesh Khanna, and she was lost to Bollywood.

A decade, two daughters, and a separation from her husband later, she was back into Bollywood, and guess what, she was paired against the same hero, viz Rishi Kapoor, who was her hero in “Bobby”.

The movie was “Saagar”. It was a well made movie also featuring Kamal Hasan.

This movie is also known for the brillinat music of R D Burman. Javed Akhtar, who earlier was part of the legendary Salim-Javed duo of scriptwriters, turned a lyricist with this movie. We saw Javed Akhrtar writing new kind of songs. One such song “Johny kya bola tha tujhse” has already been posted in this song.

This movie had two songs that included the word “Saagar” in their lyrics. In other words, two of the songs n this movie qualify to be called theme song/ title song of this movie.

Here is one of these songs – “Saagar Kinaare dil ye pukaare”. It is a duet, where Kishore and Lata are at their crooning best.

Song-Sagar kinaare, dil ye pukare ( Saagar) (1984) Singers-Kishore Kumar,Lata, Lyrics-Javed Akhtar, MD- R D Burman

Lyrics

saagar kinaare dil ye pukaare
tu jo nahin to meraa koyi nahin hai
ho saagar kinaare …
saagar kinaare dil ye pukaare
tu jo nahin to meraa koyi nahin hai
ho saagar kinaare

jaage nazaare, jaagi hawaayen
jaage nazaare, jaagi hawaayen
jab pyaar jaagaa, jaagi fizaayen
ho pal bhar ko dil ki duniyaa soyi nahin hai
saagar kinaare dil ye pukaare
tu jo nahin to meraa koyi nahin hai
ho saagar kinaare

lahron pe naachen, kiranon ki pariyaan
lahron pe naachen, kiranon ki pariyaan
main khoyi jaise, saagar mein nadiyaa
ho tu hi akeli to khoyi nahin hai
saagar kinaare dil ye pukaare
tu jo nahin to meraa koyi nahin hai
ho saagar kinaare

Yoon to humne laakh haseen dekhen hain

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

Here is a song from the era when O P Nayyar was the king of all he surveyed in Bollywood music world. The song is so representative of O P Nayyar’s music. It is sung by Rafi and the Sahir was the lyricist.

If one just listens to the audio, it feels like a tonga (horse drawn carriage) is galloping ahead. In fact that is how it felt like while listening to many O P Nayyar tunes. In contrast, lisening to many R D Burman tunes ( two decades later) made me feel like a train was running.

When one watches the video, it could well be a tonga running ( in case of O P Nayyar music) or a train running ( in case of R D Burman music). When I watched this video, I discovered this to be the case. Shammi Kapoor, as irrepressible as ever, is riding in the rear of a tonga with Ameeta. Not one to sit idle, our hero decides to utilise the time to sing a song about his travelling companion.

If you sing a song like this for a strange girl, you will be accused of “eve teasing” in India even today, so just imagine how it must have been like 50 years ago. But Shammi Kapoor being Shammi Kapoor, and this being a movie, he gets away scot free. And I am sure his roadside Romeo like conduct does not stop him from winning the affections of the lady either, I believe.

Only if real life was like that for most wanna be Shammi Kapoors !

Song-yoon to hum ne laakh hasseen dekhe hain(Tumsa nahin dekha) (1957) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Sahir, MD- O P Nayyar

Lyrics

yoon to hamne laakh haseen dekhe hain
tumsaa nahin dekhaa
ho, tumasaa nahin dekhaa
yoon to hamne laakh haseen dekhe hain
tumsaa nahin dekhaa
ho, tumasaa nahin dekhaa

uf ye nazar uf ye adaa
uf ye nazar uf ye adaa
kaun na ab hogaa fidaa
zulfen hain yaa badliyaan
aankhen hain yaa bijliyaan
jaane kis kiski aaegi kazaa
yoon to hamne laakh haseen dekhe hain
tumsaa nahin dekhaa
aha …

tum bhi haseen rut bhi haseen
aaj ye dil bas mein nahin
tum bhi haseen rut bhi haseen
aaj ye dil bas mein nahin
raaste khaamosh hain
dhadkane madhosh hain
piye bin aaj hame chadhaa hai nashaa
yoon to hamne laakh haseen dekhe hain
tumsa nahin dekha
ho tumsa nahin dekhan …

tum na agar bologe sanam
tum na agar bologe sanam
mar to naheen jaayenge ham
kyaa pari yaa hoor ho
itne kyun magroor ho
maan ke to dekho kabhi kisikaa kahaa
yoon to hamne laakh haseen dekhe hain
tumsa nahin dekha
ho tumsa nahin dekhan
yoon to hamne laakh haseen dekhe hain
tumsa nahin dekha
ho tumsa nahin dekha

Kar chale hum fida jaan-o-tan saathiyon

April 14th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in lyrics

Here is a very very moving song dedicated to those who lay down their lives to protect national boundary from external threats. This song from “haqeeqat” has become an iconic song. Today, now that India is paying its respects to the martyrs who laid down their lives to fight terrorists who had attacked Mumbai, this song is being played in TV channels.

And I agree that this is a song that captures the mood of people very well. We are proud of our gallant brave-hearts.

Here is this moving song dedicated to the martyrs.

Great lyrics by Kaifi Azmi, which so coherently captures the sentiments of people, soul touching music by Madan Mohan, and Rafi at his divine best- a gem of a song.

Song- Kar chale hum fida jaanotan saathiyon (Haqeeqat) (1964) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics- Kaifi Azmi, MD- Madan Mohan

Lyrics

kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon
kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon
kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

saans thamti gayi nabz jamti gayi
phir bhi badhte kadam ko na rukne diyaa
kat gaye sar hamaare to kuchh gham nahin
sar himaalay kaa hamne na jhukne diyaa
marte marte rahaa baankaapan saathiyon,
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon
kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

zindaa rahne ke mausam bahut hain magar
jaan dene ki rut roz aati nahin
husn aur ishq donon ko ruswaa kare
wo jawaani jo khoon mein nahaati nahin
aaj dharti bani hai dulhan saathiyon
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon
kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

raah qurbaaniyon ki na veeraan ho
tum sajaate hi rahnaa naye qaafile
fatah kaa jashn is jashn ke baad hai
zindagi maut se mil rahi hai gale
bandh lo apne sar se kafan saathiyon,
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon
kar chale ham fidaa jaan-o-tan saathiyon
ab tumhaare hawaale watan saathiyon

khench do apne khoon se zameen par lakeer
is taraf aane paaye na Raavan koyi
tod do haath agar haath uthne lage
