Tips for enlarge the batteries life of your Notebooks/Laptops

How to enlarge your notebooks batteries life

Most of our time, the capacity of our notebook battery is not enough for our work and life. If you dont have money for Apple Macbook , Dell and HP that have acclaimed battery life of 8 hours, this few tips will help to enlarge your notebook battery life a little longer:

1. Use only the power cord that came with your notebook or other authorized replacement.

2. When you dont use it, follow the correct maintenance for your notebook.

3. Don’t leave it in direct sunlight, areas where it will be exposed to extreme temperatures such as car trunks.

4. If your notebook has power management features, use it, so the system will run at lower processor speeds when enabling power management features and it will go into “sleep” mode faster when inactive.

5. Buy notebooks with internal Li-Ion batteries. Non Li-Ion batteries must be fully discharged and recharged every 2-3 weeks.

6. If you don’t use your notebook for a period of time, you must fully discharge then recharge it, so the battery will last longer.

Palm Is Looking For A Savior

April 13th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in Technology News

A sharp drop in sales and terrible loss of mindshare both took a serious toll on Palms fortunes, prompting the leadership to find a buyer, Bloomberg
reported Monday. The credible publication quoted three people familiar with the situation who claim that:

Palm, Inc., creator of the Pre smartphone, is seeking bids for the company as early as this week.

Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Frank Quattrones Qatalyst Partners are reportedly working with Palm behind the curtain and trying to find the highest bidder for the struggling firm. Palms expertise in PDAs and smartphones, their mature webOS software, and existing products could give potential buyers an edge in the mobile arena.

The news arrived on the heels of the Lenovo buyout rumor that sent the stock up by a whopping 20 percent. Palm sold 408,000 phones during the last quarter, resulting in a $22 million net loss ($0.13 per diluted share) on quarterly sales of $349.9 million. The company ended the quarter with $592 million in cash and cash equivalents.

A few weeks before the earnings call, Palm lowered its original third-quarter guidance that called for revenues in the range of $1.6 billion and $1.8 billion. Anticipating a sharp drop in sales, Palms CEO Jon Rubinstein issued a morale-boosting letter to Palm employees. The company also kicked off a new advertising campaign in an effort to boost sales.

Palms evaporating fortunes sparked all sorts of rumors, including the one that they will adopt Android at the expense of their own webOS smartphone software.

iBatt iPhone Case, Charger, And Cradle All-In-One

April 13th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in Technology News

If you are a heavy user of your iPhone then its safe to assume you have a case for protection, and some form of portable charger. Japanese manufacturer Hanwha has decided to cater for such users by combining a case and a secondary Battery, but also add in a cradle too.

The result is called the iBatt, and its one of the bulkiest accessories I have seen for the iPhone. But then for some users it may be just whats required and really useful.

The iBatt takes the form of a hinged case for the iPhone. When closed both the back and front of the iPhone are protected. When open the iBatt can be rotated to create a swivelling landscape cradle for your phone. Perfect if you want to make a call hands-free, or use the screen to watch media.

Better yet, the iBatt includes a pretty big rechargeable battery rated at 3.7V and 2,700mAH. That should be good enough for a couple of full charges away from a power point.

Bulky, yet functional, the iBatt is available in Japan now for $85. Import retailers will no doubt pick it up for distribution soon.

Matthews Opinion

The iBatt more than doubles the thickness of your iPhone so it isnt something that will fit in the pocket of your jeans. However, if you usually end up throwing your iPhone in a bag this could be a nice solution for keeping it secure and fully charged.

If you are going on holiday, will be on the road for a few days, or are constantly charging your iPhone, the iBatt does offer a relatively portable case + battery. The cradle feature is a nice added bonus if you watch video or dont want to hold the phone while using it.

Its a shame the connection to the battery pack couldnt be achieved without the additional bulky cable, but then the iPhone only has the connection port on the bottom making it an awkward problem to solve for such a case.

Proof That Old People Get The iPad

April 13th, 2010 by User | No Comments | Filed in Jobs, Technology News

Apples legendary ease of use married to touch simplicity is bound to be a hit with our senior citizens who lack the patience necessary to deal with the geekiness of Mac or Windows.

When Steve Jobs showed up last week in front of the journalists invited to Apples Town Hall campus in Cupertino to preview iPhone OS 4.0, he kicked off the presentation with an obligatory sales update that included a slide with the images of a cute girl unpacking her iPad and holding the device tight to her chest.

But Apples couch Computer isnt just for the teenagers, techies, and early adopters, its for old people, too. According to an interesting post over at Macenstein, a Virginia woman with impaired vision got an iPad for her hundredth birthday:

What do you get a 100 year old woman for her birthday? Any sane person would say an XBox 360?, yet these people apparently got Granny (or great great granny?) a brand new iPad. And Guess what? She LOVES it.

Christians Opinion

While we have yet to see how the iPad performs once the geeks step aside and leave the gizmo to the average folks, I cant help but notice that Gizmodo was right all along the iPad really is the perfect choice for technical-ninnies, the folks who hate to waste the limited time they have on their hands on complicated technologies. In fact, the iPad is the only computer so far that Im seriously considering purchasing for my mom, a computer-illiterate school teacher who just lacks the patience to master the technical intricacies of Windows 7 or Mac OS X.
